Vehicle glass service

Start With Your Installation Instructions

The instructions for your vehicle come first.

This page provides general aftercare information. Your adhesive system, glass installation, weather conditions, fitted equipment, and any additional work can change the instructions. Keep the guidance supplied at your appointment and ask if anything is unclear.

01

Before you drive

Observe the safe drive-away time specified by the technician. Installation time and the waiting period before driving are separate. Do not assume another vehicle’s timing applies to yours.

02

Tape, trim, and seals

Leave installation tape or protective materials in place for the period specified. Avoid disturbing newly fitted trim or pressing on the glass. Ask before removing anything.

03

Cleaning and washing

Follow the stated restrictions for washing, pressure washers, and automated washes. Do not direct pressure at newly installed edges or trim until the installation instructions permit it.

During the First Days After Service

Handle the vehicle normally and carefully.

Avoid slamming doors or placing unnecessary pressure on newly installed glass. Ask whether any additional precautions apply to your installation and how long they should continue.

Keep the relevant area clear.

Do not attach accessories, suction mounts, or other items near the newly installed glass or trim until the supplied instructions allow it. Keep the work area free from loose objects that could contact the glass.

Check fitted equipment.

If cameras or driver-assistance features are involved, confirm any required calibration has been completed or arranged. Report warning messages or unusual operation instead of assuming those features are ready to use.

Vehicle glass care

Aftercare Depends on the Service

01

After windshield repair

Follow the technician’s cleaning and use instructions. A remaining visible mark may be expected, but new spreading damage or a change in the repaired area should be reported.

02

After door or rear glass replacement

Follow any operating restrictions. Report binding, uneven movement, new noises, or concerns involving heating elements and other fitted features. Avoid forcing a window that does not move correctly.

03

After window tinting

Follow the supplied waiting period before lowering windows or cleaning the film. Ask which initial appearance changes are expected and which conditions need a follow-up inspection.

When Should You Contact Us?

Report a change instead of trying to patch it.

Contact us about water entry, persistent new wind noise, loose trim, unusual window movement, spreading damage, or warning messages involving affected equipment. Explain when the concern started and include photos if possible.

Do not apply household sealants, force a window mechanism, or remove bonded components to investigate. If a concern affects visibility, leaves glass loose, or otherwise makes driving unsafe, stop using the vehicle until an appropriate assessment can be arranged.

Aftercare Questions

Can I drive immediately after windshield replacement?

Wait for the safe drive-away time specified for your installation. This depends on the adhesive system and conditions; it is separate from the time needed to physically install the glass.

When can I wash the vehicle after replacement?

Follow the instructions supplied for the adhesive, installation, and any trim or tape. Ask specifically about automated washes, pressure washers, and normal cleaning.

Can I use the same aftercare timing as a previous replacement?

No. Follow the instructions supplied for this installation. Adhesive, conditions, and the work completed can differ.

Does this page describe a warranty?

No. Ask for the actual warranty terms that apply to your service. This page explains general care and follow-up considerations.
